Job Description

Brookfield Properties has an immediate need for a Business Analyst at our corporate office in Chicago, Illinois

Experience and Expertise

We are looking for a Business Analyst with a demonstrated background in IT infrastructure, particularly in the realm of building technologies such as networking, tenant internet services, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and/or property-focused IoT solutions. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset and a proven track record of coordinating and delivering small to large-scale projects. This role requires the ability to navigate and align the diverse needs of stakeholders across various properties, ensuring that our IT infrastructure projects are not only well-planned but also seamlessly integrated into our broader IT objectives. In addition to technical prowess, the successful candidate will own the change management process, utilizing thoughtful communication and established processes to facilitate smooth transitions and garner stakeholder buy-in. This critical role will enhance operational efficiency and technological advancement in our mall assets, contributing significantly to the overall success of our properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and contribute to the implementation of property-focused technology projects, from initial concept through to successful deployment, ensuring alignment with business goals and property management needs.

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations, to guide and track the progress of infrastructure break/fix efforts, full projects, and other initiatives.

  • Work with the executive business partners and peers to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements.

  • Manage the change management process, communicating effectively with diverse stakeholder groups across different properties to ensure understanding and support for technology change.

  • Facilitate regular project meetings and reporting, providing clear updates on project status, challenges, and achievements to senior management and relevant stakeholders.

  • Analyze existing infrastructure and systems to identify areas for improvement, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and integration with property management functions.

  • Be a key contributor to continuous improvement of processes, standards, and guidelines for effective and efficient realization of new technologies and systems within the organization.

  • Partner with the service desk and networking teams to analyze support tickets, make process improvements, and expand upon existing Knowledge Training Articles.

  • Maintain productive relationships with mall management teams and corporate property management teams.

  • Champion the adoption of new technologies and systems within the organization, providing training and support to ensure smooth integration and ongoing operational success.

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure that proposed technology solutions are robust, reliable, and aligned with industry best practices.

  • Collaborate with the Product/Program Managers to ensure vendor services meet performance metrics and SLAs, evaluating vendor performance to align with company expectations and operational needs.

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards and policies, maintaining a focus on security, data protection, and risk management in all assigned activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field preferred; professional certifications are advantageous but not required.

  • 3-5 years of experience in business analysis with a focus on IT infrastructure projects, such as networking, servers/storage, EMS, BMS, physical security, and/or other related property technologies.

  • Experience in managing small to large-scale projects and collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Proven background in vendor management, monitoring SLAs, and evaluating vendor performance.

  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Jira) and business process mapping tools.

  • Knowledgeable in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience creating documentation such as business case documentation or business requirements summaries.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements.

  • Familiar with industry standards and regulations in real estate and property management.

  • Experienced in change management processes and techniques.

  • Demonstrates strong desire and ability to work in a team setting and seeks input from mentors.
