Position Overview

As part of the joint venture financial reporting group, the Senior Accountant's primary role is monthly and quarterly financial statement preparation for joint ventures.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting, and other reporting to senior management and joint venture partners

  • Compilation and analysis of financial data for joint ventures working capital requirements

  • Review of Brookfield's investment activity in the assigned joint ventures, and maintaining support schedules, including equity accounts roll forwards

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement packages

  • Review and preparation of variance analysis for the consolidated portfolios

  • Prepare ad hoc analyses for management, partners and auditors as needed

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls

  • Work with auditors to assist in year-end audit procedures including audit requests

  • Meet deadlines and respond to partner and management requests in a timely fashion

  • Self-starter, team player and works with minimal supervision

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

  • CPA preferred

  • 2 years financial reporting or joint venture reporting in real estate accounting

  • Current knowledge of US GAAP required

  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, staff and external firms

  • Must be proactive, logical and organized

  • Must have strong analytical ability and proven problem-solving skills

  • Computer literacy with substantial knowledge of financial spreadsheet required

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Past experience with accounting software required; JD Edwards and HFM experience preferred
